Adoption Considerations
The ideal time to adopt a dog is when there are no major changes in your life and you are in a financial position to support a dog.  A stable environment is the best situation, whereas you can devote your time and energy to get your new addition accustom into his/her new home.SQ Rescue has an incredible variety of rescue dogs looking to find a forever home.  Purebred and mixed breed dogs all make excellent pets – it comes down to what you’re looking for in a dog, and how well they fit into your lifestyle.

When choosing a dog, consider:

Your commitment (time and otherwise)
Exercise/Activity level
Travelling on Vacation
Financial stability
Family member consideration
Other Household pets
Rental property that allows pets
Where you live

If you are interested in adopting a rescue dog, please look through our offerings on the “Adoptable Pets” link. Once you locate that perfect fit, please fill out our online “Application Form”. Once we receive your form, we will contact you to make arrangements for a “meet-and-greet” with your potential adoptee. The adoption fee for most dogs is usually $150 to $200, but can be more or less. This fee includes microchipping, spaying or neutering, veterinarian care and vaccinations up until adoption (unless otherwise noted). If you are interested one of our furry friends, please contact us. Someone will respond as soon as they can.

Also remember, in conjunction with PetSmart Charities, SQ Rescue has adopt-a-pet days three times a month at PetSmart stores in Columbia. We screen applicants and find forever homes for our rescues. We operate solely on donations and volunteers, with no paid staff whatsoever. Many of our dogs are in foster care – which provides them the opportunity to be house-broken, leash trained, and socialized with other dogs. Please look through our “Events Calendar” to see the schedule for our next “adopt-a-pet” day
